Every month, Union Transport has hundreds of containers to deliver. To meet the requirements of each job and their own intricacies, the company has to balance a ton of variables including customer specific requests, keeping the cargo safe, optimize routes and being on time.
Any haulage company knows that this could easily bring about miscommunication and change of plans. To keep trucks on the road aligned with the operations team, teams in Union Transport use the TMS to communicate with the drivers through the driver application and Hyperhaul’s walkie-talkie.

With the TMS, the fleet controller is able to plan 3 to 4 trips in advance for each vehicle and still maintain a good grasp over his entire fleet's schedule. At the same time, undoing a planned trip is just as easy as planning for one through the cards scheduler user interface. Being able to easily plan and un-plan trips allows the controller to review his existing planned schedule and continuously work on improving and optimising it.
Faced with the onset of multiple systems for depot and port bookings, Union's controllers found themselves in a state of disarray. Having to switch between different modes of booking systems resulted in extended processing times and disorganized for the controllers. Thankfully, the TMS was able to give control back to Union's controllers by reducing the number of different platforms he needed to interact with. With the integration of Portnet and CMS systems into the TMS, the controller is now able to easily execute port and depot operations from within the same page and keep track of each booking in an organized manner.

Where instructions to drivers used to be disseminated verbally, it inevitably led to never-ending arguments over "who said what". Meanwhile, the worst nightmare for Union's managers was having no audit trail over the communications between controller and driver and being unable to resolve such disputes. Fast-forward to today, at the click of a button, all vital job information is disseminated to the driver through the drivers app, and each bit of information tracked and recorded by the system. With conflicts over misinformation reduced by 100%, Union's head office and its drivers have never been more in sync.

Through the dashboard, managers are able to check the fleet utilization in one glance and assess the trucking capacity. In minutes, teams are able to provide detailed support to clients on whether urgent job requests can be fulfilled and the next slots. Thus the sales teams are able to respond dynamically to new job requests and predict the company's capacity for more jobs.
